Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired will celebrate White Cane Day in Miami on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., an estimated 200 people of all ages will walk from Miami Lighthouse, at 601 S.W. 8th Ave., south across 8th Street and down to 7th Avenue, and then will continue the celebration with food, music featuring the Miami Lighthouse musicians, a keynote speaker and special presentations.

Ability Explosion Blast-Off

Please join us in kicking off the 3rd annual ABILITY EXPLOSION, a 5-day series of events helping to create awareness and improve the lives of people living with disabilities. The Ability Explosion Blast Off Party will be held in Hall D at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

"Lights Out Miami"
A dining in the dark experience at some of the hottest restaurants in Miami
"Lights Out Miami" is a unique simulation that teaches people what its like to experience the tastes, the sounds and the energy of a great restaurant without ever seeing it. Everyone from the guests to the wait staff will face their own challenges while discovering how they would all adapt to losing their sense of sight in a dynamic environment. - Takin' it to the Streets Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
This musical event on Lincoln Road on the evening of October 20, 2011 is to bring awareness to all about the excellent level of accessible living in Miami.
Various musical acts will be dotted all over Lincoln Road, from Washington to Alton to celebrate disability awareness as part of the Ability Explosion 2011 citywide event.
Please join in the celebration of the courage that your disabled friends and neighbors demonstrate in their daily lives. Help us continue to make Miami the most accessible city in the world. Let’s spread the message to all who may be seeking an accessible city in which to regain their lives.

Comedy Explosion
The Colony Theater
The Comedy Festival will feature hilarious stand-up acts featuring disabled comics from around the country. Headlining the show is renowned comedian Suzanne Westenhoeffer.
